Se dovessi immaginare Palermo come una persona, cosa vedresti?

“Palermo come persona” è una mostra di storie illustrate di Palermo. Per sette mesi, abbiamo chiesto a abitanti stabili e temporanei di immaginare come sarebbe stata Palermo, se fosse una persona: avrebbe un sesso definito, che aspetto avrebbe, quale sarebbe la sua personalità….?

Dopo aver condotto le interviste, le storie della città personificata sono state illustrate da artisti italiani ed esteri. Palermo è una delle 15 città che fanno parte di questo esperimento creativo. E’ la prima città che ospita la mostra.

La mostra è curata da Marija Biljan, croata, che ha cominciato il suo progetto nel febbraio 2015, mentre viveva in Spagna, a Valencia. Da allora intervista persone in vari posti. Tradotte ed elaborate, a volte rese poesie e brevi racconti, le loro città personificate sono illustrate da artisti da sette Paesi.

L’esibizione è solo una parte di questo progetto antropologico ed artistico internazionale che usa storie illustrate per esplorare la relazione tra gli abitanti e le loro città. Durante queste settimane, I visitatori potranno vedere e leggere tredici differenti prospettive di Palermo, ma anche dare un’occhiata ad altre città europee personificate. Sarà anche offerta la possibilità di creare la propria immagine personificata della città.

“City as a person” a Palermo è organizzata col supporto di Arci Porco Rosso e del Cesie, dove Marija sta svolgendo il Servizio Volontario Europeo.

If you had to imagine Palermo as a person, who would you see?
“Palermo as a person” is an exhibition of illustrated stories of Palermo. In the period of seven months, permanent and temporary residents were asked to imagine what Palermo would be like, if it was a person: would it have a gender, how would s/he look like, what would her/his personality be like…?

After conducting interviews, collected stories of personified city were illustrated by artists from Italy and abroad. Palermo is one of 15 cities that are making part of this creative experiment. However, it is the first city that is hosting the exhibition.
Exhibition is curated by Marija Biljan, from Croatia, who has started this project in February 2015, while she was living in Valencia, Spain. Since then, she has been interviewing people in various places. Translated and elaborated, sometimes made into poems or short stories, their personified cities are illustrated by artists from seven countries.
This exhibition is just one part of this international anthropological and art project which uses illustrated stories to explore the relationship between inhabitants and their city. During these two weeks, visitors will be able to see and read thirteen different perspectives of Palermo, but also get an insight into other personified (European) cities. The space will also offer an opportunity for visitors to create their own imagined personality of their city.
The opening will be held on 7th December at 19:00h at Porco Rosso, Piazza Casa Professa,1.
City As a Person in Palermo is carried out with a support of Arci Porco Rosso and CESIE, where Marija is doing her European volunteering service.
